The Cynical Sisters

Disturbia in Suburbia

About

February27

Who we are: We are two sisters, both wives and moms with an off-beat, dark, dirty, cynical sense of humor where we have taken “mom humor” (boring) to a whole new level. Both of us have spent our lives making observations and studying people, which we find to be incredibly fascinating and funny. Everyone is  for our amusement, offering us a constant cesspool of jokes and jabs (thanks!). While most people are busy taking themselves way too seriously (Maya Angelou/granola style), and trying their hardest to be soooo politically correct (boring again), and non-judgmental (you know who you are), we, on the other hand, are not guilty of any of those things, that’s what makes us real people. Now, now, don’t get us wrong, we don’t outwardly conduct ourselves in such an unbalanced manner that we don’t fit into society, if that were the case, we would probably be in jail and definitely not asked back to volunteer in our kid’s classrooms. In all honesty, we are hard-working, non-assuming, compassionate, loving people with our zest for life being all things funny. Some people’s zest maybe string art, taking exercise, Gary Busey (you know who you are too), or addictions, our zest is cynical humor based on everyday life, and of course, laughing. One more point to make here would be that we don’t ridicule others in order to feel better about ourselves and pump up our self-esteem, it’s all in jest. We are what we are, because our brains are wired this way. For good or bad, it is our handicap.

On a historical note: These “Lettas” were started in the late 80’s one boring Saturday afternoon while sitting in our brown and orange family room desecrated decorated with beautiful bicentennial lamps and curtains. Not long ago, after a cross country move (both of our families actually moved from Atlanta to Seattle), we found our long lost notebook filled with these letters. We had so much fun re-reading them that we decided to update the letters, and writesmoking-jacket1 some new ones. We want you to read these, laugh so hard you fall out of your seat and after you recover, tell ALL of your friends, family, the cashier at the grocery store, your parole officer, a talent agent, and everyone else you know -and don’t know (but probably not your priest, preacher, etc), to read them. Oh, and don’t forget the rest of our blog too, it’s also funny. So, chill out, put on your smoking jacket and ascot, grab a fringed trimmed ottoman for your feet, and have a few laughs on us, at us or with us.

The Dear Sis Lettas: This part of the blog is a satire between two deranged sisters who are entertained at the expense of everyone who crosses their paths. They lack diplomacy and often act impulsively with little regard for anyone else. These families often miss-speak and spell words the way they would pronounce them. In each letter, these “good hearted” sisters always mail one another an interesting batch of jams, jellies and preserves, along with an amoral lesson. So come along with us on this crude minded journey, through suburbia.

Please note: if you are easily offended by crude, cynical humor, you should not read these “Lettas”.
